September - Levulan (with BLU- U or IPL)
Dr. Wong says:
Levulan is a medical grade product for moderate to severe acne that is applied to the skin topically. It is also for Actinic Keratosis (pre-cancerous skin lesions). The scientific name is Amino Levulanic Acid, also known as ALA. It is activated either by the BLU-U Light or IPL. Activation by the light is called Photodynamic Therapy (PDT). If treating for acne, 4 sessions done two weeks apart will usually put acne into remission for about a year. If treating for pre-cancerous cells, 6 sessions are recommended.
There is some down time associated with Levulan, but clients say it is well worth it for the results they get. Redness, swelling, and dryness of the skin are common side-effects for a few days after treatment. Sunscreen is a must, as is avoiding bright lights for the first two days after the treatment.
